That Dream

I’ve had a lot of dreams. But this one is very strong.

I woke up at 4 in the morning. My mind couldn’t stop the passion to write about this.

This dream, is about a girl. And below, is what I’m going to say to her. Anyway, I decided to not tell this to her.

Freud wrote “The Interpretation of Dreams”. The basic premise of that book is that; dreams, is an image of what we truly wants, but somehow, can’t get it. It stuck in our “unconsciousness”. Sometimes we denied it. Sometimes we try to replace it. Sometimes we didn’t realize it. But it there.

I was dreaming about you. Its about five minutes before I wrote this.

And how weird Freud is, I must say, he’s really smart… he’s right.

Indonesia

I see Indonesia

in a pair of praying hands of a boy. He pray, naively, for this country : for the poor, homeless, and disadvantaged people all around Indonesia.

For being a high school student doesn’t stop him to care about others.

.

.

I see Indonesia

in a smile of a someone who gave Rp. 5000 to an old man who came from nowhere, trying to get a little money to get back to his house.

For putting off every stereotype of a stranger, and decided to help him.

.

.

I see Indonesia

in a photograph about disadvantaged people made by one of my lecturer. He post it in his blog.

For caring to minority group when he himself can be categorized as elite-majority group.

.

.

I see Indonesia

in a bright young man who planned to be a teacher.

For choosing to care, while he has every choice in his hands.

.

.

I see Indonesia

in a smile of a mother whose her son got imprisoned because of drug abuse

For the strength to face the problem, while others leave her.

.

.

I see Indonesia

in my mother’s eyes

For raising a son, with help from no one.

And for nothing that can make her bitter. Not storm. Not riot. Not disappointment.

Thats what Indonesia means to me.

For every 1000 things to hate, there 1001 things to love about this land.
